Peter Newns is a retired RAF Wing Commander. A telecommunications engineer, after retiring from the forces, he and his family lived for several years in Oman until he returned to the UK in 2000.
He recently retired from working for NDS, a supplier of open end-to-end digital pay-TV solutions.
Val also retired recently, having worked as the Marina Manager for Ocean Quay Marina in Southampton, and a security operative/receptionist for Bowman Power.
They are both highly experienced sailors, having been on the water for over 30 years. Peter and Val are both qualified RYA instructors.
