We examined the storage areas to see if the space could be better utilised. Drawers in the galley area did not use the space right to the side of the hull and were removed. We now have two deep shelves.
The door that had been below the old cooker was just the right size to function as the new cupboard door. Galley stowage is supplemented by extra upper shelves in cupboards and as many Ikea metal spice racks as we could accommodate. There is also now a small freezer under the starboard forepeak berth.
We put slatted shelving in a smaller hanging locker, concluding that one hanging locker each would suffice. We also gained an extra cupboard by replacing the heads mirror with a bathroom cupboard from John Lewis.
The holding tank was replaced by a custom made Tek tank sited under the washbasin. It is unfortunate that the generator and washing machine are both on the same side of the boat necessitating some lead on the other side to balance us up. Installing lights operated when doors open has made accessing deep recesses much easier.We filled a hanging locker opposite the heads with a Eumenia washing machine and had to remove the holding tank located in a cupboard in the heads to make a new hanging locker there.
